Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative (OHAI) The Center for Healthy Aging works together to provide a diabetes self-management program. Classes start on ZOOM on the internet for free for class. Starts at 11am on July 20th and continues once a week through October 24th.

The diabetes self-management program is aimed at individuals and their carers dealing with type 2 diabetes. During the six-week workshop, you will learn how to deal with the symptoms of this form of diabetes. You will learn how to improve strength and endurance, as well as eating a healthy diet and using medication correctly. As you take this course, you will learn about better ways to control your diabetes. By sharing experiences while taking this course, you can help others resolve problems related to their diabetes.

Instructor from OHAI, a Donald W. Reynolds Department of Geriatric Medicine program at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. OHAI serves all individuals who are eligible for its programs, regardless of race, national origin, ancestry, skin color, religion, gender, age or disability.

These services are funded under the Title III Older Americans Act through a health promotion grant from the EODD Area Agency on Aging and DHS Aging Services through rural health projects.

The lessons take place on the virtual platform ZOOM. Registration is required for a course. You will receive further information and teaching material with your registration. Call (918) 660-3171 or email Sharon-Elder@ouhsc.edu.
