The New Horizons Extension Homemakers Club met on July 12th at St. Andrew Missionary Baptist Church. The members heard about healthy eating and personality traits and celebrated the club’s anniversary.

The newly appointed President Sabrina Self-Gwin chaired the meeting. Other new officers included Vice President Diana Maxwell, Inspiration Leader Sharon Johnson, Secretary Gail Sales and Treasurer Gail Saffold, according to a press release.

According to the UAMS website, a presentation was given by Nicole Bates, director of education for the University of Arkansas’ South Central Center on Aging for Medical Sciences.

Bates gave each member a summer pasta salad recipe with all the ingredients needed to prepare as part of the healthy eating and tasting food distribution program. Each member was asked to prepare the salad and complete the surveys provided for the Central Center on Aging.

Dot Hart presented the program for True Colors – Understanding Personalities. She gave activity sheets to determine what each member’s personality category was and how to communicate with other personality categories according to the press release.

To celebrate the New Horizons Club’s third birthday, members exchanged gifts and ate cupcakes. New Horizons meets every second Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m.
