Bariatric Recipes: A first book of its kind in India
According to Dr. Aparna, there are many recipe books in the western world that can help patients with post-bariatric surgery nutrition, but no such food source has been available to Indian patients until now.
“The Indian diet is unique and very different from the Western one. The recipes in this book will help patients manage the demands of surgery. It will be very useful for the readers as it is focused on the Indian diet and it also has many vegetarian recipes. All recipes are healthy. Such a resource is not currently available in India. In addition, macronutrient calculations (protein, carbohydrates, and fats) are listed for each recipe along with its nutritional benefits, ”she said.
The recipes are contributed by qualified nutritionists from India as well as countries like the USA, UK, Peru, Ukraine, Spain, Jordan, Dominican Republic etc. So this cookbook is truly global in nature.
Aside from weight loss, bariatric surgery leads to a significant improvement in obesity-related diseases such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, joint pain, sleep disorders, infertility, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. In addition, losing weight can help improve a person’s ability to perform daily routine activities, which in turn improves the quality of life.
