LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 5, 2021) – In today’s fast-paced world, many people wait in line or drive down the thoroughfare to fast food restaurants more often than gathering at the dining table with loved ones.

Cooking and dining together can help families grow closer together, but putting a meal on the table can be a challenge for parents when time is limited and money is tight.

“Cook Together, Eat Together” by the University of Kentucky’s Family and Consumer Sciences Extension is designed to help families enjoy more homemade, healthy meals. Providing simple recipes for breakfast dishes, soups, vegetables, salads, and stews, the book provides a strategy to help families spend more time together while preparing affordable and delicious food.

Additionally, the authors provide a lifestyle change toolkit, including budgeting tips, nutrition guides, food label rating breakdowns, and even a quick guide to smart shopping at the farmers market. Each recipe has useful information – from preparation tricks to help reduce clutter, ideas for using leftovers, to icebreakers to start fun conversations around the table.

Published by the University Press of Kentucky, the no-nonsense, nutritious recipes in this cookbook are designed to bring the whole family into the kitchen, indulging in calming foods, and bringing back memories. “Cook together, eat together” serves delicious, affordable meals that home cooks and their children can prepare with less stress.
