PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – The very first Philly Fitness Week is taking place in gyms and exercise studios across town.

A kind of restaurant week gives the city the opportunity to try a variety of workouts at reduced prices, with no obligations.

The mission of this initiative has several other goals in mind.

The first is to get people moving.

With most gyms closed for a long period of the pandemic, you may want to come back to this but don’t know where to start.

Philly Fitness Week is a great way to try different workouts for a discounted price.

“We wanted to do something really positive, to showcase ourselves and really get people back into training,” said Gavin McKay, director of the Philadelphia Fitness Coalition and owner of Unite Fitness. “Everyone was at home and we have to move again. We also hope people support their local businesses as well. We work safely and are ready to go. “

Juliet Sabella owns the Wall Cycling Studio and Fitness in Manayunk and says support is critical.

She turned at every opportunity to stay open.

She says the year was a difficult year for the entire industry, but the support from the community was also overwhelming.

“I’ve never been so closely connected with our customers,” said Sabella. “I’m getting emotional. I want to keep showing up for everyone.”

From biking to barre classes, kickboxing, yoga and more, studios across the region participate.

Philly Fitness Week runs through Sunday, June 20.
