Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) adopted Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) after her father died of cancer on Coronation Street.

Since then, Summer has been in the midst of many of her family’s troubles, but most recently she came into the spotlight after she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.

As Summer gets used to dealing with her condition and dealing with the general problems that come with teenage years, Billy has done his best to help her as best he can.

Speak with Metro.de and other members of the press, Daniel Brockelbank recently told us about the research he was doing on the plot and revealed that he had had help from a former EastEnders star:

“One of my best friends, Jonny Labey, who used to be in EastEnders, we lived together in London and he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetic when he was 15, so it was really convenient for me to have him on the phone.” How did your parents deal with it, how did you feel? ‘ And then to be able to use it as a reference point to know how it was.

He works a lot with Diabetes UK, he’s from Jersey, so he does a lot with Diabetes Jersey too. He is very open about his diabetes. It’s a worrying thing, it can kill you if not handled properly. It was an interesting story that we could empathize with. “

“I think Billy is very aware that she needs all kinds of care, not just for her diabetes but also for her mental health,” Dan said when asked about Billy’s concern about Summer and her diagnosis.

“I think he is very aware that this is a serious disease that needs proper treatment and I think he loves it. Obviously Harriet is now playing Summer and Harriet is actually 23, we joke all the time, there are pictures of Harriet on set when she was 4 and we could make fun of her and say, “that was actually her 19th birthday this one Movie”. “, She is 47, she is really older than me!

I was nervous when my entire family had to have their heads replaced, I was nervous because it’s difficult to re-establish those established connections that you have with the previous actors. But again, with Harriet absolutely on her feet, she’s a legend and since she’s 23 I can swear on set and not have to worry! ‘
