New Delhi: Yoga guru Ramdev wrote an open letter on social media on Monday (May 25) asking the Indian Medical Association (IMA) if allopathy would provide lasting relief from diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes. In the letter posted on his official Twitter handle, Randev asked 25 questions to IMA who objected to his video clip stopping allopathy treatment for COVID-19. The development comes a day after the well-known yoga guru was forced to withdraw his testimony questioning the effectiveness of allopathy drugs.
“Does the drug industry have permanent treatment for thyroid, arthritis, colitis and asthma?” he asked.
Ramdev also asked if the allopathy had drugs for fatty liver and cirrhosis. “As you found a cure for TB and chickenpox, look to treatments for liver disease. After all, allopathy is now 200 years old.” He also asked what non-surgical cures the pharmaceutical industry has for heart block. “What treatment is there for cholesterol.”
“Does the Pharmaceutical Industry Have Treatment for Migraines?” Or treatment for constipation and bloated amnesia with no side effects, he said.
The yoga guru went on to list modern diseases like Parkinson’s disease and asked if allopathy had a painless cure for treating infertility as well as reversing aging and increasing hemoglobin.
“Doctors shouldn’t get sick at all when the allopathy is strong and ‘sarvagun sampanna’ (with all good qualities),” he noted.
On Sunday, Ramdev was forced to withdraw a testimony made on a viral video clip in which he heard that “Lakhs have died from taking allopathic drugs for COVID-19”.
He can also be heard questioning some of the drugs used to treat COVID-19.
The statements met with loud protests from the Medical Association, whereupon Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan asked him to withdraw the “extremely unfortunate” statement.
Ramdev has withdrawn his testimony on allopathic medicines and regrets the controversy
On May 23, Ramdev withdrew his controversial remarks on allopathic medicine, which sparked strong protests from the Medical Brotherhood. In response to a letter from Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, Ramdev replied that he wanted to calm the matter down.
“Hon’ble Minister, I received your letter. Withdrawing my statement and putting the controversy over various medical practices to rest … dete hue main apana vaktavy vaapis leta hoon),” he tweeted from his personal Twitter handle.
Citing a video circulated on social media, the IMA said Saturday that Ramdev had claimed allopathy was a “stupid science” and that drugs like remdesivir, Fabiflu and other DCGI-approved drugs had the coronavirus infection not treated.
