DENVER, January 26, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Healthstat, part of Everside Health resulting from the merger of Paladina Health, Activate Healthcare and Healthstat, announced today that it has partnered with Dexcom, the leading provider of real-time continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) for its Dexcom CGM Type 2 diabetes patients. The new partnership marks the first time a local health care provider has offered the innovative Dexcom G6 CGM system to its employer and union patients.

“Diabetes is a growing health problem in the United States that adversely affects the lives of millions of people living with the disease and significantly increases the overall cost of care,” he said Chris Miller, CEO of Everside.

Industry statistics show that people with diabetes have two to three times higher medical costs. Although they make up 10-15% of the total patient population, they account for 30-50% of total medical and pharmacy spending each year.

According to Dr. Tobias BarkerCGM, Chief Medical Director at Everside, is a major breakthrough that enhances the ability of people with diabetes to proactively manage their health in real time.

“In the past, patients had to rely on a fingerstick to check their blood sugar levels,” said Barker. “Not only is this a painful and uncomfortable option, but it doesn’t give an overall picture of how a patient is doing, as it only allows for a snapshot.”

The Dexcom G6 CGM is painless and sends blood glucose readings to a connected app or Dexcom receiver every five minutes so patients can understand the effects of lifestyle behaviors such as sleep, stress and medication. It also contains warning messages that can inform patients of rising / falling blood sugar levels or potentially life-threatening hypoglycemic events.

“We are excited to continue our work with Healthstat to bring Dexcom CGM technology to people with type 2 diabetes on their platform,” he said Matt Dolan, Senior Vice President and General Manager New Markets at Dexcom. “We believe our CGM systems can empower these patients in ways that were previously unavailable to them, resulting in dramatically improved health outcomes.”

“By providing diabetes access to the G6 Monitor for our members, they can better control their health and reduce their healthcare costs,” says Miller. “However, the value of the device is increased when it is used in combination with the bespoke educational and lifestyle coaching we offer. Everside is known for its preventive, holistic approach to healthcare. Through this partnership with Dexcom we can provide the latest technology for our patients while continuing to benefit from education and strong relationships with providers. “
