Police arrested a woman after a man’s tombstone was destroyed.

Liam Scarman was 22 years old when he died of a diabetic episode on Boxing Day 2017. He was buried in the Westerleigh Crematorium on Westerleigh Road.

His grave was targeted overnight from November 26-27 last year. White paint was poured over the tombstone and abusive messages were left.

One note read, “Ha Ha Ha Liam. Looks like diabetes has recovered! P ******* e bruv.”

An Avon and Somerset police spokesman confirmed that a woman is in police custody today (April 16).

“A woman in her twenties from Bristol was arrested this morning on suspicion of harassment, malicious communications and criminal harm,” he said.
