Our Neighbors: Texas A&M’s Ninfa Peña-Purcell named to Texas Diabetes Council | Native Information

Nymph Peña-Purcell, a scientist at the Texas A&M Health Center for Population Health and Aging, has been appointed by the Texas government for a six-year term on the Texas Diabetes Council. Greg Abbott.

As a member of the council, Peña-Purcell will work with colleagues to resolve issues affecting Texans with diabetes. The council also advises Texan lawmakers on legislation to develop and maintain nationwide diabetes education services for diabetics and for health professionals who provide treatment and education.

Since 2013, Peña-Purcell has served on the Texas Diabetes Council’s Results Subcommittee. She is a member of the Departmental Committee for the Certification of Health Education Professionals and a board member of the National Commission for Health Education Professionals.
