Mel Greig announces that she has type 2 diabetes and announces a three-month weight loss plan with no alcohol, refined sugars, or carbohydrates to reverse it
Radio star Mel Greig announced that she has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
On Friday, the 38-year-old took to Instagram and gave the confession while talking about her health trip.
Mel spoke boldly about how she “inundated” herself with drinks and burgers before saying she plans to make a lifestyle overhaul.

“My mom had type 2 diabetes and I led a naughty lifestyle too, so it could be one or both,” Mel wrote on her Instagram.
“I am confident that I will do my best to undo it. One of the many things that I am proud of is my resilience and determination,” she added.
Mel said she plans to make a complete lifestyle change to help fight the disease and stay healthy.
“You meet a new Mel today. For the next three months there will be no alcohol to start with and a very strict diet with no refined sugars or carbohydrates,” she wrote.

“I made a conscious decision to start three weeks ago so I’m off to a good start with customizing,” she added.
Mel concluded by saying that it is important for younger Australians to get tested as it is common but often goes undetected in humans.
Type 2 diabetes is diagnosed when the pancreas does not make enough insulin, according to Diabetes Australia.

However, it also occurs when the Insulin is not working effectively or the body cells are not responding effectively to insulin.
Mel regularly talks about her difficulty balancing a busy lifestyle with a healthy one.
“I no longer strive to be thin, I just strive to be happy and healthy,” wrote Mel on Instagram in February of this year.
Mel said she wanted to follow in Rebel Wilson’s footsteps and make 2021 her own “Year of Health”.
