Anytime Fitness in Gardnerville, Nevada, is holding a dodgeball fundraiser in the Anytime Fitness parking lot on Friday, June 11, 2021, the weekend of Carson Valley Days, from 5pm to 9pm in the Anytime Fitness parking lot.
The event consists of a single elimination tournament with 16 mixed teams of six players at a cost of $ 150 per team. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes based on the theme of this year’s Carson Valley Days. The event will also feature a public safety double play between the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and East Fork Fire. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Lynch family for a medical lifesaving procedure.
“We really wanted to bring this fun event back to Carson Valley and it’s a great way for people to be active and competitive while donating to a good cause,” said Jen Nalder, regional manager at Anytime Fitness. “The more teams we have, the more fun it will be and the more money we can raise to help the Lynch family. Plus winners receive boastful rights for the next year. “
The event will include additional fundraising drives with auction items and vendors. The winning teams receive trophies. Teams can register to participate here: SPACEBALLS a Carson Valley Days dodgeball tournament.
Monica Lynch was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease around 2002. Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is an inherited disease in which clusters of cysts develop primarily in your kidneys, causing your kidneys to enlarge and lose their function over time. Cysts are non-cancerous, round sacs that contain fluid. The cysts vary in size and can get very large.
Her doctor told her that she would need a kidney transplant in about 20 years. Since that time, Monica has only treated the disease with a small group of people who know. In the past year, Monica had about five surgeries. Of these, they were supposed to be prepared for peritoneal dialysis (PD), their left kidney was removed, and she started dialysis in July 2020. This fundraiser is for uninsured medical expenses for both Monica and her donor.
Monica and her husband have traveled from Gardnerville, NV to San Francisco, CA for the past several years for a medical exam. Your kidney transplant will take place at California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) in San Francisco, CA.
A GoFund Me account has also been set up for the Lynch family and is currently accepting active donations. Monica Lynch’s kidney transplant fundraiser, organized by Will Lynch.
