Gurgaon: To avoid long queues in front of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) office, the transport department has announced that vehicle owners can get fitness certificates on their doorstep or directly from the dealers.
In a recent meeting with car dealers, the RTA decided to allow private dealers to issue certificates of fitness to vehicle owners. “Following the government’s recent transport policy announcement, we’ve started making paperwork less of a chore for vehicle owners. At a time when physical distancing is the order of the day, it’s best to avoid the long lines for fitness certificates every day. The private dealers can now set up their own centers and issue department-approved fitness certificates, ”said RTA Secretary Dharna Yadav.
The department has asked car dealers to set up special centers to start issuing fitness certificates. Merchants can also explore fitness certificate home delivery options.
“Commercial vehicle owners have to deposit the fixed fee for the suitability of the vehicle with the dealer. You will also receive a receipt from there. In addition, they do not have to make any payments. All dealers have been instructed to prepare fitness points. Dealers must prepare for all facilities. This saves both the vehicle owner and the transporter time and money. Dealers will soon be allowed to assemble the vehicles at the locations, ”added Yadav.
The department has also announced that it will simplify vehicle registration. She claims the move is a step towards her goal of promoting “simple living”. Vehicle dealers no longer need to provide paper copies or visit the office for approval and review. The entire process will take place online through a dedicated transportation portal, officials said.
