Long Island law enforcement officials are warning gym goers not to “strain themselves to make it happen to them” after recent increases in the number of thefts from local gyms.
Nassau County police issued a warning after the number of thefts rose from gyms and fitness centers on Long Island.
Police said valuables have been stolen or removed from locked gyms or taken from inside vehicles parked in the parking lot of some gyms in recent weeks, leading to the warning.
According to the police, anyone who wants to exercise should “bring as few valuables as possible to a fitness area and always carry the vehicle keys with you”.
Other Tips To Avoid Victims From The Nassau County Police Department:
- Do not leave your keys / tags in your vehicle;
- Do not leave your vehicle unlocked;
- Do not leave valuables unattended.
