Baton Rouge General launches the Healthy Men Project to encourage men aged 30 to 50 to be more active for their health and set workable goals.

The new campaign starts with a kickoff event from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on July 24th on the BRG’s Bluebonnet campus. The free event features health screenings and “Ask the Expert” stations, plus climbing demos, Bloody Mary and vodka tastings, putting and batting competitions, and more.

“We know that men tend to delay going to the doctor and ignore their symptoms. So just thinking and talking about their health is a great first step for many men, ”said Dr. Benjamin Levron. “Participating in the Healthy Men Project is not just about lowering blood pressure or shedding a few pounds. There are many ways you can make healthier choices, such as: For example, drink less alcohol, check your mental health, or invest in a treadmill. “

Free health checks offered include cholesterol, glucose, and blood pressure tests; Skin spot check; Grip strength and balance assessments; Body fat percentage scale and waist circumference check; and Ask the Experts on sports medicine, primary care, robotic surgery, family medicine, emergency care, cardiology, and oncology.

After the kick-off event, enrollment in the Healthy Men Project will continue until August, with the project in full swing in September. Attendees will receive regular email check-ins with health tips, local perks, and an easy way to share their progress.

There will also be access to a wide variety of perks, from a t-shirt and nutritional advice, to free classes and discounts on drink therapy. By sharing a step each month they are taking to get healthier, entrants will compete to win the grand prize – a Traeger grill – as well as gift cards.
