The Palm Beach County Sports Commission is hosting the Kids Fitness Festival of the Palm Beaches, presented by Baptist Health, at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center on Wednesday, June 30th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Elementary and middle school aged children learn the basics of nearly 20 traditional and nontraditional sports from the region’s leading teachers. In addition, participants can experience a rock wall, play games, and interact with college athletes and coaches.
The Kids Fitness Festival of the Palm Beaches has been hosted by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission for 25 years. This year’s event will be held outdoors for the first time under the covered arena of the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center at 7500 Forest Hill Blvd. This 111 acre world-class venue, operated by the Palm Beach County Parks & Recreation Department, features a covered and lighted western event arena that measures 37,500 square feet and measures 76 by 46 meters. The smaller Flexzaun-Arena measures 27,000 square meters with a size of 60 x 50 meters. Since its inception, the Kids Fitness Festival has introduced more than 75,000 local teens to the world of sport.
“We are very excited about this year’s Kids Fitness Festival,” said Jeff Zipper, Chairman of the Kids Fitness Festival Committee. “We are very grateful to our presenting sponsor Baptist Health and our other great partners. After last year, this year’s Kids Fitness Festival was more important than ever to get children back into sport. This event would not be possible without the support of the local population. “
“With our new partnership with the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, we are excited to expand our Baptist Health footprint through sports-focused youth programs in Palm Beach County,” said Reggie Laroche, vice president, Baptist Health Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. “Starting our engagement at the Kids Fitness Festival is a great opportunity for us to continue supporting and encouraging the youth community in South Florida to stay active and enjoy a healthy lifestyle.”
Every year, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission works with a variety of sports organizations, federations, national governing bodies, clubs and institutions to create a one-of-a-kind festival. Almost 20 different organizations will offer introductory sports clinics that teach the necessary basic functions and basics of their sport. Past participants have included the US Tennis Association, Roger Dean Stadium, Palm Beach International Raceway, Okeeheelee BMX, the American Youth Soccer Organization, Florida Panthers, Florida Atlantic University, Florida Youth Lacrosse Foundation, Miami Marlins, and others special guest appearances.
Community sponsors for this year’s event include Baptist Health, the Community Foundation’s Cardinal-Marlins Fund for Palm Beach & Martin Counties, ESPN West Palm, Enterprise Holdings, Palm Beach County Parks & Recreation, and Honda Classic Cares.
