Before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world and crashed their economies, the fitness industry served as a primary destination for people from all walks of life. Big box gyms, boutique studios, and home programs have been in demand as people have started moving in a more holistic and health conscious direction.

But then the COVID-19 crisis came and restricted or closed many fitness centers and gyms. However, despite the temporary challenge, the unprecedented event taught the importance of integrating fitness and diet into everyday life, even when it gets difficult. Accordingly, Kory Angelin, chief operating officer of the HIIT fitness concept Volofit at Tough Mudder Bootcamp, believes the fitness industry will rise very soon.

When the world first began to grapple with the severity of the spread of COVID-19, gyms closed their doors to physical centers and switched to social media to keep in touch with their members and communities. Now that presence is more important than ever and will not go away anytime soon. Additionally, most companies say they will continue their digital endeavors even if we get a sense of normalcy.
Online advertising is also at an all-time high, as more and more fitness companies are using both paid and organic advertising on social media channels like Instagram and Facebook. “This shift was a cheaper alternative to marketing,” added Angelin. “These trends and insights continue for fitness companies and are attracting more members because of these innovations.”

Kory also notes how he saw a move away from a much-needed “home” solution to fitness when the world was locked down. Some of these solutions include mobile apps, home devices, and fitness programs that people can use from the comfort of their homes. With work-from-home setups and the elimination of any commute time, people now had the extra time to exercise and focus on their health as well.
