The Jack Army manager spoke about the attacker during his pre-game press conference on Thursday

Ghanaian captain Andre Ayew was declared fully fit to face Swansea City and Watford on Saturday, but club boss Steve Cooper believe the Wales-based team will need to be careful with the attacker’s return.

The 31-year-old has been out with a hamstring injury in the 2-2 draw with Wycombe Wanderers last month.

He was one of two major injury problems for Swansea ahead of the final game of the day at Vicarage Road. The other player was English U21 defender of Ivorian descent Marc Guehi.

“Andre and Marc are back with us,” said Cooper at the pre-game press conference on Thursday, as reported on his club’s official website.

“Andre is fine, he didn’t have any setbacks during training and he’s fully available again.

“We’ll use him carefully, he’ll need a few minutes over the weekend, he really wants to play and nothing prevents him from making a commitment.

“We’ll be careful with their workload if we have to, but everyone is good at finishing the season as strong as possible. Marc has overcome his problem with the groin area and can get started after some load management. “

Ayew returned to Reading after a 1-0 loss to Queens Park Rangers after his injury but a setback during the game forced the Jack Army to beat Derby County 2-1 last week.

Swansea are very concerned about the Ghana star as the promotional championship play-off immediately follows the regular season.

Looking to the Premier League, Swansea must hold off competition from Brentford, Bournemouth and Barnsley to get the last available promotional ticket and realize their dream of returning to the elite division for the first time since 2018.

Ayew has been the Jack Army’s talisman so far this season. His importance shaped his current status as the club’s top scorer.

In 42 games, the former West Ham United man has scored 16 goals, two more than closest rival Jamal Lowe.
