ANZ today announced its support for Diabetes Fiji to help raise awareness and improve early detection of the leading non-communicable disease.

Diabetes puts people at a higher risk of developing COVID-19 seriously due to their weakened immune system.

Saud Minam, Country Head of ANZ Fiji, says while in many countries diabetes is detected early and can be treated through diet, exercise and medication, in Fiji the disease is often only detected at very late stages.

He adds that Diabetes is on the front lines in Fiji helping Fijians better understand key risk factors for their health, make better life choices, and improve their overall health and wellbeing.

Type 2 diabetes is more common in Fiji and can also be more easily avoided if the right healthy lifestyle is followed.

Diabetes Fiji has welcomed the support from ANZ.
