Care Connection for Aging Services is enrolling older adults in a free EnhanceFitness class scheduled for January.

The course is to take place virtually on Zoom on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. until April.
According to a press release, Care Connection is offering free tutorials and one-on-one help for people who want to join Zoom and need assistance to get online on a smartphone, desktop, laptop and / or tablet.

Officials say the course is meant to be relaxed and includes a full hour of fun, dynamic cardiovascular training, weight training, balance, and flexibility.

A typical class includes: a five-minute warm-up, a 20-minute aerobic workout, a five-minute cool-down, a 20-minute strength training with soft cuff weights on the arms and legs, and 10 minutes of stretching. The course includes balance exercises throughout.

EnhanceFitness has been shown to improve physical function, reduce depression, protect against falls, promote social interaction and a physically active lifestyle, reduce medical costs and reduce hospital stays.

The plan is for the course to begin with a three-part fitness check so that participants can test their strength, balance and ability to walk before beginning. The simultaneous test will illustrate the results at the end of the course.

To register for the course, visit goaging.org/events or call (800) 748-7826 for more information or to register by phone.
