Mountlake Terrace residents will have a new way to exercise later this year when the Specialty Fitness Pros Studio opens its doors in Unit 700 of the Arbor Village building at 23601 56th Ave. W opens.

Owner Darius Hollinshed said the gym is slated to open in either late summer or early fall. The 1,250 square meter facility will feature a variety of equipment including squat racks, cables, dumbbells, benches, kettlebells, medicine balls, balance balls, and lawns for agility work such as ladders, hurdles, boxes, battle ropes, and sleds for push challenges.

“There will be some equipment,” he added, “but more exercise is recommended and there will also be quality cardio equipment to finish off your workout great.”

The gym will only offer individual training instead of group courses.

Hollinshed wrote in an email that his company “builds fitness facilities for professionals to run their business / practice within the facilities”. This also offers members of the community the opportunity to work with a seasoned fitness professional to meet their fitness wants and needs. Each professional represents their own company as an independent contractor and gives them the opportunity to grow. “

He noted that the gym’s customers can count on coaches who have a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and / or are an accredited fitness trainer.

“I grew up in the town of Mountlake Terrace so it’s my home, but as a coach for decades, I found it very difficult to find facilities to train my clients after leaving the big gyms to start my own brand Said Hollinshed. “So it felt right to not only have a place for me to train clients, but also to cater for other trainers who might be on the hunt. But more than that, to make more helpful healthy resources available to the community. “

The studio’s website is still in preparation and is under construction.

Hollinshed urged anyone considering the fitness services to get on as soon as possible once the facility opens. He added that in his decades of fitness trainer experience, “Trainers are in great demand and are booked quickly as we will only have about four if not five active trainers at this particular location as the facility is not huge.”

Arbor Village is a four-story, mixed-use residential area that opened in 2013 on the southeast corner of 56th Avenue West and 236th Street Southwest. After the gym and an insurance office, which are due to open later this year, recently signed leases, all of the building’s commercial space has now been filled.
