The Hy-Vee-registered team of dietitians is running free events throughout April to educate consumers about shopping and snacks to manage their diabetes symptoms.

The planned events are as follows:

  • Free A1C Store Tour: Hy-Vee Nutritionists will be conducting over 1,000 free A1C screenings in more than 40 stores throughout the month. Hemoglobin A1C is a blood test that diabetics use to treat their condition by providing information about a person’s average blood sugar level over a period of two to three months. Appointments are assigned according to availability.
  • Diabetes Myths, Facts, and Low Carbohydrate Snacks Classes: The nutritionists will host live classes through Hy-Vee’s telemedicine platform to debunk common myths about diabetic foods and discuss diabetes management. You will also share quick and easy low-carb snacks that can be included in daily meal plans. The courses are offered 10 times during the entire monthH.
  • Diabetes Virtual Store Tours: The dietitians will conduct virtual diabetes store tours at select Hy-Vee locations where they will discuss carbohydrate counts, highlight products to incorporate into everyday life, point out low-carb substitutions, and recommend grocery brands sold by the retailer. These tours take place ten times in April.

Anyone wishing to participate can register online. Lessons take place throughout April by appointment only.
