Berjé announced on Friday that Brian Hart had been named president. Hart, who has been with the company since 2012, was previously Chief Operating Officer. He takes on the role of David Herbst, who has been with Berjé since 2003. Herbst will continue as Corporate Vice President and bring his five decades of industry experience to support regulatory and trade-specific initiatives.

Hart brings more than 30 years of consumer product experience to his role at the Carteret-based distributor of essential oils and aromatic chemicals. Prior to joining Berjé, he was Chief Financial Officer of Sportcraft Ltd., a manufacturer and distributor of leisure products. Prior to that, he spent 15 years at Mars Inc. where he held a variety of roles for the global manufacturer of snacks, pet care and other food products.

“Although many people are unaware of it, they interact with our flavor and fragrance products every day, which is what makes our commitment to quality critical,” said Hart. “As part of a family business, I appreciate the opportunity to do the best and right for our employees and our customers.”

Hart will work closely with CEO Gillian Bleimann-Boucard as she leads the company in the third generation, focusing on growth, sustainability and continuous quality stewardship and innovation.

“Brian’s skills are unique. His leadership skills, combined with his passion for operations and his strong financial background, enable him to offer tangible and creative solutions across our organization, ”said Bleimann-Boucard. “He has shown a deep commitment and understanding of our vision and values and invests in our people, systems and processes to ensure that we can continue to meet and exceed the demands of our global customer base.”
