Man Kicked Out Of Planet Health For Huge Water Bottle

A man recently recorded a heated argument with a Planet Fitness employee who kicked him out of the gym because his water bottle was too big.

The video, which was first released on YouTube in 2019, picked up speed again on Reddits r / PublicFreakout Saturday and has nearly 20,000 points.

In the approximately 3-minute video, a man is walking back and forth with an employee. He claims that he previously exercised with the same half-gallon bottle at the same Planet Fitness location with no problems. However, the employee says it is against her manager’s rules to have bottles that won’t fit in the gym’s drink holders.

The problem, however, is that this “rule” doesn’t seem to be published in writing anywhere in the gym.

“It’s just an arbitrary rule that you’re pulling out of [the] Air that you cannot show me in writing [and] that you haven’t posted anywhere in your gym, ”said the man.

“That is correct,” replies the employee. (It is implied that the employee told the man outside the camera that employees are free to change rules.)

When it becomes clear that the employee is not moving, the man continues, “I go to several Planet Fitnesss and I never have a problem. And she cannot provide me with any written evidence that this is part of her policy. It’s also not posted anywhere in the gym. “

As the video continues, the man continues to question the gym’s guidelines – which the employee largely ignores. Finally the employee asks him to leave.

“I will go on and go as you asked me to go. But this video will be out there and show you and your face, ”the man said before finishing the recording.

In old tweets, Planet Fitness stated that it bans gallon water bottles because they block sidewalks.

Gallon jugs aren’t allowed on the club floor, Donald. Water bottles should fit in holders & be kept away from the aisles / sidewalks! 😃

The viewers were divided as to whether they supported the employee or the customer.

“What nonsense,” wrote another commenter. “If she had been forced to implement a policy that she considered unreasonable, she would have acted differently.”

Others, meanwhile, jumped in defense of the employee.

“She’s trying to get through a shift, not developing guidelines on site to anger the members,” said a third person.

“That’s the rule, it’s your job to do it. She may think it’s stupid, maybe not, but at the end of the day she does her job, ”said another person.

The Daily Dot has asked Planet Fitness for a comment.
