Here are the four best oils:

Lemon myrtle

Lemon myrtle is a liquid found in citrus fruits that has antibacterial and antifungal properties, making it the perfect alternative solution to using as a kitchen spray.

It has been shown to kill bacteria such as Aspergillus Niger, E. Coli, and Salmonella that can live in kitchens.

Mandarin oil

Mandarin oil is a great all-rounder that fights off the most common household bacteria. “Mandarin oil is also known to be the most soothing, uplifting essential oil,” says Jessica Bragdon, founder of Koala Eco.

Eucalyptus oil

Not only does it smell fresh, eucalyptus oil can also boost the immune system – a property that is very welcome in the colder months of the year.

It’s especially good for bathrooms as it fights bacteria like E. coli and strep.

Peppermint oil

Peppermint oil should not be missing in any cleaning cupboard! Not only is it a great solution for glass cleaning, but it can also help with common pest problems around the home.

It’s also a great option when it comes to buffing stainless steel and chrome streak-free and super clean.

lemon oil

Did you know that the humble lemon is so much more than just an addition to your bowl of fruit? Lemons are known to contain the compound d-limonene, which in combination with water forms a strong (non-toxic) cleaning agent!

For an all-purpose spray, mix one quart of tap water, 4 drops of lemon oil, 4 drops of eucalyptus oil, 2 drops of tea tree oil, and 1 drop of clove bud oil.

Lavender oil

Known for its soothing properties, lavender oil is another favorite when it comes to natural products. Put a drop on your dryer sheets or with 120 ml of water to freshen up the laundry.

Tea tree oil

When it comes to versatility, tea tree oil is at the top. Its antiseptic and antiviral properties make it ideal for general cleaning or disinfecting sprays and more specialized uses such as toilets. You can also apply a drop or two topically to your face to treat blemishes!
