If you’ve seen a tech keynote or presentation in the last year or so, you probably couldn’t escape the industry’s growing focus on health and wellness. Whether new and improved wearables like smartwatches or subscription services like Fitbit Premium or Apple Fitness + – technology companies see health tracking as a great opportunity to serve their customers in the future. With that in mind, we wanted to see what apps our readers are using on their phones and wearables to monitor their overall health and fitness.
Samsung Health took first place with over 36% of the vote. Garmin followed with over 15%, Google Fit with over 11%, Strava with 9% and Fitbit with just over 5%. No other app received more than 3% of the votes. Just under 11% of readers said they use multiple fitness apps, while around 6% said they used a fitness app that wasn’t among the twelve or so choices we listed.

Of course, it makes perfect sense that the fitness app integrated into the operating system of the most popular Android cell phone manufacturer in North America and large parts of the world is heavily used. Still, we were a bit surprised that it took first place. Perhaps less surprising is the idea that many readers use multiple apps to plan and manage their fitness routine.
For example, reader BB10Clifton said that their “main fitness app is Samsung Health, but it automatically syncs with Strava, MayMyRun and MyFitnessPal.”
I am very happy with my Galaxy Watch Active2, which uses both the #GoogleFit and #SamsungHealth apps to track and motivate my progress. Pretty decent combination with the # Pixel4a 🤘💪
