The 9 Peak from Suunto offers all the functions of the 9 Baro from Suunto, but only a fraction of the weight and mass.

Most sports watches are wrist-mounted computers and while impressively small for their performance, are unfortunately still big to wear on the wrist. And that applies in two ways to little runners who count every gram in order to achieve top performance.

But the new 9 Peak from Suunto sets a new size and weight standard for a fully featured watch. It is 37% thinner and 36% lighter than its predecessor, Suuntos Baro 9, with all the functions of this watch and more.

Here’s what you need to know.

Suunto 9 Peak sports watch

The 9 Peak is the thinnest, smallest and toughest watch Suunto has ever made. But it doesn’t skimp on functions.

The watch has 80+ sport modes such as running, hiking, mountain biking, skiing, and swimming. It also offers customizable screens that show the most important data for your workout, as well as an intelligent battery management system.

The 9 Peak also offers accurate wrist-based heart rate monitoring, detailed weather information and extensive navigation functions on the watch.

It enables route import and enables turn-by-turn navigation with Komoot. The 9 peak provides measurements of blood oxygen levels to help users better understand acclimatization levels at higher altitudes.

Suunto 9 Peak + Suunto App

With the watch with the Suunto app, users can plan routes with sport-specific heat maps and popular starting points. You can also transfer routes to the watch for offline navigation.

The mobile app also helps users discover new locations, create POIs and look back on previous adventures with personal heatmaps. Bluetooth 5 doubles the synchronization speed between the watch and the Suunto app.

Battery life

The Suunto 9 Peak also offers the best battery life in its class. It lasts up to 170 hours of GPS battery, and no matter what screen you’re looking at, you’re not going to waste battery. This is because an automatic adjustment of the intensity of the backlight is dimmed or brightened depending on the lighting conditions.

Plus, athletes who always strive will appreciate the 9 Peak’s faster recharge. The brand claims an hour for the watch to reach 100%.

“Nordic Design”

Suunto was able to put its sports watch on a diet by making it with the highest quality materials including grade 5 titanium and a sapphire crystal face. The brand says the watch has a new “Nordic design”.

It looks clean, simple, and classy. It is available in two different finishes with four nature-inspired colors: granite blue titanium and birch white titanium, made from the aforementioned sapphire crystal and grade 5 titanium. The All Black and Moss Gray models are made from sapphire crystal and stainless steel.
