GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado (KKCO) – The United Way of Mesa County is partnering with Crossroads Fitness, Mesa Fitness and the Fruita Health Club to launch a new event called Torture Your Trainer.

Each gym has a series of glasses with the photos and names of the trainers in which members can donate money. Each dollar donated equals one burpee of the selected trainer at the end of the event.

Crossroads Fitness hosted its event first and raised a total of $ 1,152. Neil Ryan was Crossroads’ selected trainer and had to do 591 burpees.

The Fruita Health Club is currently closing its event and Mesa Fitness is holding “Torture Your Trainer” next month.

The United Way of Mesa County is also backing Crossfit Vex co-owner Robert Camp in tomorrow’s 4x4x48 challenge. The challenge requires camp to run four miles every four hours for two days.

His goal is to raise $ 15,000 for a donation to the United Way of Mesa County and partner agencies The House and Catholic Outreach. You can support him at https://givebutter.com/rcamp.

The United Way of Mesa County said that local gyms are vital to the health of the community and that it is deeply grateful for his partnership with the local fitness community.
