UT Health East Texas Olympic Center is pleased to announce that it has received recertification from the Medical Fitness Association, the nation’s premier organization specializing solely in medically integrated wellness and fitness facilities. This certification represents a significant commitment by the UT Health East Texas Olympic Center to provide the highest standards of professional expertise and high quality programming. The UT Health East Texas Olympic Center is here to help members develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle that minimizes the risk of disease and promotes overall wellbeing.

Maintaining this standard of excellence in the health and wellness community is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team and the commitment of the system’s leadership to the role exercise plays in preventing and treating disease, ”said Greg Maschal , Director of the UT Health Olympic Centers in East Texas.

This certification enables the Olympic Center to stand out from other facilities in many ways, including the constant availability of certified personnel, written emergency preparedness and response guidelines commonly practiced by all employees, medical fitness programs targeting a wide variety of chronic diseases in our community and quality management processes to ensure we are providing members with the best possible experience and results, ”added Maschal.

The Medical Fitness Association facility certification is the first and only certification specifically offered to facilities in the medical fitness industry – an industry that serves over 4 million members worldwide. Based on the internationally recognized standards and guidelines of the Association for Medical Fitness Facilities, the certification process includes an in-depth on-site review of compliance with a number of prescribed standards and guidelines. The certification process is an essential part of ensuring that facilities provide a high level of quality and safety in the programs and services they offer so that they can be fully integrated into the local health care continuum. The facility certification of the Medical Fitness Association is a seal of approval in the health and wellness industry.

As the incidence of chronic disease continues to rise, the need for medical fitness facilities that deliver high standards of programs to the communities they serve is more important than ever, ”said David Flench, FACHE, FMFA, president of the Medical Fitness Association . “Studies have shown that people who lead an active lifestyle, especially in a safe environment, reduce the risk of illness. The UT Health East Texas Olympic Center has taken an important step towards providing this exceptional level of care. “
