So check this out. It all started in a park with a twenty dollar bill. Now, Ascension Athletics has grown into a gym and community in Winston Salem focused on helping people no matter where they met their fitness goals. I want to say hello to Joshua, Gilliam. He is the founder and owner of Ascension Athletics. Great to have you Joshua. So tell me what your studio is about. How did that happen? I said it all started with a $ 20 bill. Tell me what that means To the right? So I couldn’t find a job after college. So I finished my studies in 2016. I couldn’t really find a job, but at least not a career, right? Because I’ve always dreamed of opening a chain of gyms but couldn’t find anything that could make me enough money to get there. So I pretty much just used my resources and started with a couple of clients in Louisville Park and that was all I really added with $ 20 and I got five and less pieces of gear, wow, it’s really from scratch . You even started, wow Joshua tell me how you influenced the people in our community. How did you help them be accountable to their fitness schools? So helping people influence people has meant pushing them beyond what they think they can, writing a lot of people by the time they hit the gym. They have preconceived notions that it will be too tough, that they will have to give up certain aspects of life, and that they are not fitness people, that it is not for them. Being able to have that effect, I tell my coaches all the time, you know, drive people out there because that is what this pain-love barrier creates and enables this effect for people is going to do this Do you remember, do you hear the apology? Oh, I don’t have time for that, or I’ll just work out at home. What are you telling people Well, I asked him, I said, when was the last time you went for a drink? But when was the last time you were, you know, with friends too, you already know, X, you haven’t seen it. And you can usually answer that immediately. So I just tell them if you have time, you have time, right? Most people put off their health until it’s too late. You get something out of it. They get a message from the doctor telling them they have cancer, diabetes, or knee and joint problems and now it’s time to hit the gym. So I try to reach out to the people who, you know, it’s always good to come before you have to have a good point. And we show some cool pictures from your gym, your gym with a lot of people who are involved there. I would like to share some of the programs that you offer. Yes, so we split, we actually have group training, we have personal training, our core program is our group training program and what we do for those of you who didn’t know it was bootcamp and circuit training for our group training program. So when you come in with us, we like to call it personal training in a group setting. When you walk in we have an ascent trainer that can walk you through the workouts, every day is a different day but you have an app that lets you see what actual workouts were done that day. All of our trainers are certified and I’ll show you the modifications you need to do the exercises. And then we also have our personal training, uh, for people who like a personal approach, both of which give you a personal approach, for some people who are a bit shy let’s face it. So some people can start with a personal training program and we can incorporate them into our group training program. I like it quick now before we go. Are there any fitness moves or something we can do quickly and easily at home? Maybe if we’d rather stay home and do our workout. So that’s a good question. We also offer virtual transfer, we actually have a flat screen that actually streams, we have members in Durham Virginia, we have members, and I think it’s Georgia and Florida too. You can do this from the comfort of your home. But to answer that question, um, I would tell people, just to keep it simple, you know, you want to do an upper body day, a lower body day, and then a cardio day. I would keep it that simple. So make sure you hit your upper body, your arms, your biceps, you know your chest, make sure you hit your back and then you want to do a lower body day and then on the third day you want to do cardio do. So just go for a walk in the park with your spouse, just do things that are fun to walk your dog, and then you want to take a day off on that fourth day. So upper body, lower body cardio day, rest day and then repeat the process. Okay, great Joshua. MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR ARMS, YOUR BICS, EP YOUR CHEST, MAKE SURE YOU HIT YOUR BACK, THEN DO A LOWER BODY DAY. ON THE THIRD DAY DO CARDIO. WALKING AND WALKING IN THE PARK WITH THE SPIRIT, doing things that are fun, walking the dog and taking a day off on the fourth day.
