Peloton’s inventory jumps on UnitedHealth’s plan to supply health courses to members without spending a dime

Shares of Peloton Interactive Inc. PTON, + 2.85%, rose 4.6% in morning trading Tuesday after the home fitness company announced it would partner with UnitedHealth Group Inc. UNH, + 1.91%, to give UnitedHealthcare members access to Peloton classes at no extra charge. UnitedHealth shares lost 0.5%. Beginning September 1, members will be able to register with Peloton for access to Peloton’s fitness classes as part of the UnitedHealthcare Plan Benefits. New and existing Peloton members can register. “Many Americans may be turning to on-demand exercise options to improve their fitness and overall well-being, and this unique relationship with Peloton will provide millions of our members with an important resource to help them.” on their way to a healthier lifestyle, “said Philip Kaufman, chief operating officer of UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual. Peloton shares are down 18.3% year-to-date, while UnitedHealth shares are up 17.3% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, + 1.25%, is up 11.1%.
