CLIFTON PARK, NY – On The Move Fitness had its grand opening and the cut of the tape this weekend. Owner and head trainer Mike Verschelden welcomed the guests to his gym at 217 Guideboard Road with the ribbon cut on Friday and the grand opening ceremony on Saturday.
On The Move Fitness specializes in small group workouts and individual fitness training, but larger team training options, which Verschelden calls “Move Camps”, are also available. The gym is membership based and offers a variety of package options. At the opening on Saturday, Verschelden offered three of its Move Camps in half-hour sessions to give potential customers a preview of On The Move’s fitness program. The camps also served as a fundraising opportunity. All proceeds from all three camps will be donated to CAPTAIN Community Human Services, a charity that helps homeless youth.
Verschelden hopes to host move camps for charities every month. He values giving back to the community and helping others, especially children. He hopes the services he offers at On The Move Fitness will help people improve their lives holistically, with better fitness leading to better mindsets and better overall health.
“This has been a dream of mine for some time,” said Verschelden as he cut the ribbon. “We really want to make an impact on the community with health, fitness and a better person.”
Verschelden thanked his family and friends from the bottom of his heart, who have supported him from the start and helped to make his dream come true. His parents, both of whom were present, said they were very proud of him. He received congratulations from Rep. Mary Beth Walsh and a representative from Senator Daphne Jordan, as well as support letters from representatives of the Saratoga District Chamber.
“I’ve seen a lot of changes in people with training,” he noted. “I’ve done it myself. I know it can change your life. “
Liz Roggenbuck, Saratoga District Chamber’s Vice President for Benefits and Programs, was delighted that On The Move Fitness was added to the list of new stores to open this year.
“Our ribbon cuts were so busy,” commented Roggenbuck. “It’s so good to see that COVID isn’t stopping people from opening new businesses and following their dreams.”
