Tips on using essential oils

  • Use the highest quality essential oils you can afford – cheaper varieties are usually full of counterfeit ingredients and less effective than more expensive brands like doTERRA or Young Living. Look for “100% Pure” and “Therapeutic Quality” on the labels.
  • Do not ingest essential oils – rather use them topically or aromatically (by misting, inhaling or syringing in the room).
  • Some oils can cause skin reactions when applied directly. To avoid this, mix a few drops of essential oil into a carrier oil like grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, or fractionated coconut oil before applying it to the skin (a good ratio is 1: 4).
  • Essential oils should never be used near the eyes, inner nose, or ears.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have any serious health condition, or are taking prescription medications, always consult your doctor before using essential oils.
