We are all about staying hydrated despite the heat! That summer, the Philippines experienced a few scorching hot days, with the heat index rising as high as 52 degrees in some parts of the country. To stay safe, it’s important to give your body what it needs to stay cool – and what better way to do that than through tasty, nutritious, water-rich fruits and vegetables? Below we’ve listed some of the best recipes for your favorite refreshing (and rehydrating) ingredients.

They don’t call it watermelon for nothing! Words aside, this fruit is one of the most hydrating to enjoy this summer. With a water content of 92 percent, watermelons have been shown to give more than half a cup of refreshing H20 per 154 gram serving. It is also rich in nutrients, including magnesium, fiber, and vitamin C.
If you want to incorporate it into your diet, try this watermelon, feta, and mint salad. While the watermelon provides plenty of moisture, the feta adds a spice that is complemented by the coolness of fresh mint leaves. Really perfect for a summer dinner!

Cucumbers have an extremely mild but slightly bitter taste (thanks to their skin), some may love them, others hate them. Nevertheless, we must not forget that they have a water content of 95 percent. Plus, they’re incredibly low in calories and the perfect addition to soups, salads, and sandwiches.
If you’re looking for something that compliments that distinctive cucumber flavor, we recommend this pineapple, banana, and cucumber shake. It mixes other summery fruits and a handful of baby greens to create an easy-to-drink (and very healthy!) Shake recipe that is as refreshing as it sounds.

Coconut water has been touted as a better alternative to sports drinks for some time. Although athletes who sweat a lot and exercise a lot may need more than coconut water to rehydrate, this nutrient-dense, low-sodium drink is ideal for people who are not as active but still need to keep up with heat or levels of activity . A single cup is high in electrolytes like potassium and manganese; but also low in carbohydrates. This makes it great for rehydration.
If you want to incorporate it into your diet (in a fun way!) Try this coconut, raspberry, and chia seed pudding. It’s healthy, refreshing and still oh so creamy.

Celery is known as a “negative calorie” food (meaning it takes more calories to eat than celery has at all). While this isn’t scientifically accurate, we can’t deny that celery is incredibly water-resistant, making it a refreshing vegetable to incorporate into a holistic diet.
Aside from chewing it raw with a side of peanut butter, consider this hearty celery soup made with fresh herbs, water, and potatoes for a filling, yet nutritious, appetizer that won’t puff you up.

A delicious berry dessert sounds just right. Strawberries have a water content of 91 percent, which makes them a sweet, yet guilt-free treat this summer. Not only that, they’re also high in antioxidants that have been shown to prevent certain types of cancer.
Take advantage of these fruits by using them to make sorbet! This three-ingredient recipe includes strawberries, raw honey, water – and you don’t need an ice cream maker either.
