Business Intel: Planet Fitness opens location in Salem
Planet Fitness is preparing to open a new location in Salem next month.
The gym, which will be roughly 16,000 square feet, will include cardio and weight machines as well as a Black Card member spa with HydroMassage beds and tanning, said Becky Zirlen, senior public relations manager, in an email.
“We are aimed at first-time and occasional athletes who may never have attended a gym before,” wrote Zirlen. “We always strive for a non-intimidating, non-judgmental atmosphere in which our members can feel comfortable training at their own pace.”
Planet Fitness’s new location is at 1359 W. Main St. Keith Corporation, a North Carolina-based real estate company, purchased the mall in 2019 that previously housed a Kmart. The space has been split up to accommodate multiple commercial tenants and also includes a Tractor Supply Co.
The gym is expected to open in mid-March. Zirlen says new members can make a special offer starting Monday by searching for the Salem location on the Planet Fitness website.
