The progress
High Fitness with Riss and Miss celebrated its third birthday on Tuesday September 28th at the Old Logandale School, where the fitness class usually takes place. This energetic fitness group has become a sensation and a growing fad among women (and even some men) in Moapa Valley.
“We started doing fitness classes each of us separately,” said Melissa Hardy (the “Miss” in the Miss and Riss partnership). “We found we weren’t doing so well separately, but decided three years ago to unite together and it really grew and became a success.”
The company was founded by Hardy and Marissa Moss (Riss) to bring people, especially women, together to have fun, exercise and celebrate successes in fitness and health.
Last week the group got together and trained with pump-up music for over an hour. Then a full raffle of prizes including high fitness clothing, fitness drinks, Sunwarrior Protein Powder, fitness pants, a beautiful gold necklace, athletic shoes and much more was given away. The main prize was a “Golden Ticket”, which allowed a year of free membership in the high fitness courses.
Each attendee received a gift bag containing a protein bar, high-energy Mexican caffeinated hot chocolate drink mix, exercise drink mixes, a high-energy biscuit from Hole Foods Bakery in Mesquite, and more.
More than 60 women and 1 man were present on this celebration night. They rocked to hip hop, rock, alternative, pop and more in musical genres.
“We average about 35-40 people on a normal regular class night,” Hardy said. “Tonight it was amazing to have as many people as we did. We had so much fun!”
“In the past, the goal has always been to uplift women, have fun, and be silly,” added Hardy.
“Our new goal is to sweat and smile!” Marissa Moss intervened with a smile of her own.
Both Hardy and Moss confirmed how fun it was to have this organization and help other women love their own bodies.
“All of these women are absolutely amazing!” said moss. “We come here regardless of age, body type, etc. to just have fun and support one another.”
High Fitness offers several classes. The program currently offers a high fitness class on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 8:00 a.m.
On Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. they take a sculpture course. This course is more about toning the muscles and using light weights and other exercise equipment.
“We are so excited to have been with us for 3 years and look forward to another year,” said Hardy. “We really want to welcome everyone who wants to come out and be part of these uplifting women and support each other in health and fitness.”

Both Hardy and Moss really wanted to thank all sponsors for the big celebration as they ended their training with a confetti dance.
