Gloucester County’s Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Senior Services, announced that all six community nutrition locations will reopen to seniors on September 1, 2021.
“Senior Services staff and volunteers are at the forefront of responding to increased meal demand and ensuring food security for vulnerable older adults in our county,” said Commissioner Director Robert M. Damminger.
“This program gives our seniors the opportunity to enjoy a hot lunch while interacting with other seniors,” said Commissioner Jim Jefferson.
Nutrition Program meals are open to all Gloucester County residents over the age of 60 for lunch regardless of income. A donation of $ 1.25 is recommended for each meal.
The Nutrition Sites are designed to promote health and wellbeing, and reduce hunger, food insecurity, and malnutrition by providing an RDA of nutrients in a hot meal. As a meeting place for other seniors, they also combat social isolation and provide a safe place to meet other seniors.
