Prime Minister Kishida Fumio is expected to announce at the Nutrition for Growth Summit 2021 that Japan will allocate around $ 2.8 billion to other countries and regions over the next three years.
The two-day international conference on improving nutrition opens in Tokyo on Tuesday.
Kishida, Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa and other officials will discuss online with world leaders how to promote global diet improvement efforts.
Kishida is also expected to pledge to offer African nations at least 10 million doses of coronavirus vaccines across the international framework to ensure an equitable distribution of vaccines amid the proliferation of the Omicron variant.
Kishida apparently wants to show the world Japan’s determination to help introduce vaccines in Africa with low vaccination rates.
