Diet can affect your health now – but did you know it can affect the health of future generations too? Learn more on this topic in a free one-hour webinar, Power of Nutrition, which will be presented on Saturday, April 24th at 10am

Everyone who is interested in this topic is cordially invited, be it as a member of the public or from the healthcare sector.

Moderator Kent Thornburg, PhD, Professor of Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University, will cover the following topics:

  • The long-term changes in chronic disease rates, including obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease.
  • The biological changes that occur over generations are related to poor diet and social stress.
  • The basics of physical changes that lead to a higher risk of illness.
  • The changes in medical practice that are helping patients plan healthier life courses.

The webinar is presented by the Samaritan Center for Health Education and the Oregon Pacific Area Health Education Center. Although there is no fee, registration is requested online at bit.ly/CHEnutrition.

About the moderator

Kent Thornburg, PhD, is the M. Lowell Edwards Chair in Cardiology and Professor of Medicine at the Knight Cardiovascular Institute at Oregon Health & Science University. He directs the Center for Developmental Health and the OHSU Bob and Charlee Moore Institute for Nutrition and Wellness. He studies nutrition during pregnancy and the resulting cardiovascular diseases in offspring. He recently received the Agnes Higgins Award from the National March of Dimes and the Barker Medal from the International Society for Developmental Origins of Health and Disease. He is committed to improving the health of all Oregonians.
