NEW LENOX, IL – Those looking for a quick start – or a very late start – to their New Years resolution to get fit will soon have help from one of the nation’s largest fitness centers: Planet Fitness.
The Village of New Lenox announced in a press release on Friday that it would move Planet Fitness to the empty FIM store on 700 W. Lincoln Highway by the end of 2021. The area is 28,474 square feet, according to the Village, and offers plenty of space and options for those looking to exercise.
“We are pleased to welcome Planet Fitness to our community,” said Tim Baldermann, the new mayor of Lenox. “As the west side of our city continues to develop, it is great to see high quality businesses come here for our residents.”
According to its website, Planet Fitness offers a range of cardio and strength training machines, individualized training programs and a mobile app that help customers stay fit while on the go. There are more than 2,000 Planet Fitness gyms in the US
The space for Planet Fitness has been empty since 2013, according to Village. It was during this time that Beggar’s Pizza bought the square where the shop front is and has made remarkable improvements to the square, including repairs and remodeling of the parking lot, repainting the facade of the square, and upgrades of internal systems to the village.
