CHEMUNG COUNTY, NY (WETM) – The Chemung County Department of Aging and Long Term Care will be distributing coupons for the Senior Farmer Nutrition Program this year through alternative outlets.
The program aims to empower local farmers by expanding their sales at local farmers’ markets, as well as promoting healthy communities through locally grown fruits and vegetables.
Each booklet contains five coupons worth $ 4 each ($ 20 total) and can be used on fresh fruit and vegetables at participating farmers’ markets across New York state.
EastSide Market returns to Elmira this month
Coupons will be available for first come, first served walk-up and drive-through events in Chemung County.
Drive-thru timetable:
- Wednesday July 21st at the Chemung County Fairgrounds on Fairview Road in Horseheads from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- Thursday July 22nd at Faith Temple Church at 765 Harper Street in Elmira from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- Monday July 26th at Chapel Park on 83 Personius Road in Pine City from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- Thursday, July 29th at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at 402 Sullivan Street in Elmira from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

- Tuesday July 27th at the Eastside Farmer Market at 760 E. Water Street in Elmira from 3:15 p.m.
- Wednesday, July 28th at the EOP at 650 Baldwin Street from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- Wednesday July 29th at the VanEtten Town Board at 6 Gee Street from 2 p.m. to 30:30 p.m.
- Thursday, July 29th at the Transformation Center at 314 W. Church Street in Elmira from 5pm to 6pm
- Tuesday 3rd August at the Eastside Farmer Market from 3:15 p.m.
- Thursday, 5.8. at the Wisnermarkt from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Requirements for eligibility for the Farmer Market Coupon are:
- Resident of New York State AND
- 60 years or older AND
- Monthly income at or below 185% federal poverty guide lens
- 1 person – $ 1,986 / month
- 2 people – $ 2,686 / month
- 3 people – $ 3,386 / month
- Have not received an SFMNP voucher booklet from another location this year
A power of attorney or an authorized representative with a completed and signed declaration of authorization from the authorized senior or the POA can collect coupons on behalf of the authorized senior.
