ROCKFORD – The University of Illinois Extension is offering educational cooking kits for National Nutrition Month in March.

Kits are designed to help teenagers gain confidence in the kitchen and educate them about healthy eating plans. This project is ideal for families working together or for teenagers with cooking experience. The teenagers learn to prepare either hummus or chickpea salad and adapt the recipes to suit their family’s needs.

The kits include the March “I Made That!” Brochure, a sensory rating, chickpea recipes, and a reusable 8-inch MyPlate with four sections. Kits can be picked up in the second week of March. Kits are offered while stocks last.

Cost per kit: $ 5. To register: go.illinois.edu/jswIMadeThat.
