at Tokyo Nutrition for Growth Summit 2021,

TOKYO, November 8, 2021 – Ajinomoto Co., Inc. (Ajinomoto Co.) announced its “Commitment to Nutrition” as a specific goal to improve nutrition and on October 26, 2021 in the “Global Nutrition Report”, an official website for the Japanese Government-hosted Tokyo Nutrition For Growth (N4G) Summit 2021 will take place December 7-8, 2021.

Commitment to nutrition
By 2030, we will help extend the healthy life expectancy of one billion people by increasing the current reach to 700 million consumers and by providing products and information that help consumers enjoy nutritious and delicious foods.

- We will use our current reach of 700 million consumers to raise general awareness of Umami salt reduction and to help more people achieve salt reduction without compromising taste.
- Provide nutritious products to contribute to people’s wellbeing

- By the 2030 financial year, 60% of our products will have a high nutritional value and taste good at the same time. We will use Ajinomoto Group’s Nutrient Profiling System (ANPS) to guide product development and reformulation.
- Among the nutritious products we will be offering 400 million people a year by the 2030 financial year products that promote the “reduction of delicious salt” and the “optimization of protein intake”.
- By utilizing the physiological and nutritional functions of amino acids, we will double the availability of such products that contribute to health by fiscal year 2030 compared to fiscal year 2020.
- Supporting consumer awareness / behavior change by providing information that will help improve health and nutrition

- By fiscal year 2025 we will proveide nutrition education for a total of 100,000 employees.
The dual burden of malnutrition, which includes overeating, which causes obesity and lifestyle-related diseases, and undernourishment of the disadvantaged in developing countries, is increasing worldwide. At the N4G Summit, leaders from governments, international organizations, businesses and civil society will participate in a variety of discussions on improving health, nutrition and nutritional resilience around the world. The Tokyo Nutrition for Growth Summit 2021 is a meeting promoting international efforts to improve nutrition.
