This weekend the community is invited to attend the opening of Blue Line Boxing & Fitness with owner Johnny Determan.
“I’m really excited that my dream of having my own gym has finally arrived. We have our grand opening this Saturday and then it will be open to the public,” said Determan.
The celebration takes place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
“I’ve had overwhelming support from the community. I didn’t think I’d get as much interest as I did at the beginning. It was great,” said Determan.
On Sunday, the gym announced that Determan’s father, John Determan Sr., would be helping as an assistant coach. A few words were written on the gym’s Facebook post to explain John’s experience: “Determan Sr. started boxing as a teenager and went on to college. He won four District Golden Glove titles and also fought professionally in the Midwest . He has coached boxers for more than 20 years, both nationally and professionally. He has worked in law enforcement, corrections, and emergency preparedness throughout his career. Determan Sr. has hundreds of people in the fields of active shooter response, situation awareness and Self Defense teaches and will offer sporadic training at Blue Line Boxing & Fitness. ”
“I think the gym will best serve as a base for our community. My mission is to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community, and that is exactly how I imagine it. The community involved and part of it is the Key, “so Determan said.
The gym is located at 2498 FM 66 # 1053 in Waxahachie.
