JACKSON, Wyo – Becoming Jackson Whole invites local residents to the first annual TRYathlon: Fitness for Body & Mind on Sunday August 8th at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. This fun, free, family-friendly event combines physical and mental fitness exercises that are proven to reduce stress and build resilience. In the middle of our busy summer season, it’s an opportunity for our hardworking community to recharge, refill and network.

“A silver lining in our experience over the past year is that we all recognize how prone we are to being unbalanced in the face of serious stress. We have shared disruption, loss and uncertainty together, and now we share a commitment to resilience, ”said Sara Flitner, Founder and President of Becoming Jackson Whole. “With this event we can share evidence-based tools and practices with our community.”

THE COMPANIES AND THE PEOPLE WHO DO IT

Business and community leaders quickly sponsored an event to help locals regain their emotional balance and improve their mental fitness, including Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, The Wellness Center at St. John’s Health, First Republic Bank, Jedediah’s Catering & Concessions, Flitner Strategies, Four Seasons Resort Jackson Hole, The Alpenhof, The Liquor Store of Jackson Hole, Compass Real Estate, the Jannotta-Pearsall Family Foundation of Jackson Hole and the Teton Village Association.

In addition, a committee of busy Jackson philanthropists and professionals enthusiastically joined Flitner and her team to plan and run the opening event despite their own busy schedule. “I’m creeping off one of them,” Flitner said when referring to the opinion of a committee chairman: “We do better if we take care of ourselves and help each other.”

THE PROGRAM

Join Becoming Jackson Whole to exercise your mind and body.

The TRYathlon starts at 9 a.m. and includes:

• Guided mindfulness practice (English and Spanish lessons)
• Yoga for all abilities (English and Spanish classes)
• 5 km trail walk / run (at your own pace)
• Post workout hydration and partying with DJ Rosie Read at the Solitude Station

“This is a unique community event for the people and families who live here, work here, serve here. We loved offering tools and practices virtually during the pandemic, ”Flitner said. “This event enables us to be together, to support each other, to learn new things together, with sparks of joy that only break out when you can experience something inspiring with other inspiring people!”
