RAMONA (KUSI) – The Ramona Fitness Center continues to operate despite San Diego County’s COVID-19 public health restrictions.

Peter San Nicolas came to Good Morning San Diego to talk about why he’s defiant and staying open despite the shutdown order.

Nicolas was charged with health policy violations in August, although he said the charges have since been dropped but a cease and desist letter was recently served.

The gym owner said he had thousands of check-ins and no COVID-19 infections attributed to the gym.

He is also part of a lawsuit in federal court against local and state officials for coronavirus-related operating restrictions that they say violate their constitutional rights.
