Summer is here and staying healthy should be a top priority, especially in the hot Florida summer sun. We all know that fruits are generally healthy and hydrated. But what if eating certain fruits is supposed to have benefits like moist skin, anti-inflammatory properties, and heart regulation? Many of the benefits of watermelon are amazing.

What are the health benefits?

This refreshing fruit is high in vitamins such as vitamins A, B6 and C. Vitamin A is a trendy term for retinol and is important for development and eyesight. Vitamin B6 is an essential nutrient that supports metabolism and, along with red blood cells, produces neurotransmitters. After all, vitamin C has many important functions for the body, the most common of which are to fight disease, protect cells, and maintain healthy skin.

Lycopene is an antioxidant that causes the bright red interior of the fruit. Watermelon contains around 15-20 milligrams of this antioxidant per 2 cups serving, so it can have the highest levels of lycopene when compared to any type of fresh food. This phytonutrient not only makes fruits notorious for their color, it also balances out the amount of free radicals in the body. Free radicals cause oxidative stress in the body above the antioxidant levels associated with diseases from asthma and diabetes to cancer and Alzheimer’s.

Fight dehydration

Have you ever been weak or so tired that you couldn’t get to the bottom of your feelings? This is often the case with dehydration. Drinking enough water is enough, but a better way is hydration. You can also chew watermelon. This fruit is 92% water and also serves as a source of delicious treats and moisture. Remember that in a healthy summer, watermelons are not only fat-free, but also have around 40 calories per serving. In addition, fruits are also low in sodium. So you can swim in the pool all day without feeling full or tired.
