ROCKLAND – Affinity nutrition, a new nutrition store, opened on Friday, January 22nd, on Rockland Plaza between Hannaford and Planet Fitness in the room where Green used to be with Envy Hair Salon. The owners are dedicated to providing food to Rockland and the larger Midcoast community.

The company is owned by Jessica Ripley of Washington and Lisa Ladd of Owls Head, both longtime Midcoast residents with a variety of business experiences in both for-profit and nonprofit sectors.

Affinity Nutrition offers Herbalife Energy Tees and Nutrition Shakes, products that Ripley and Ladd say are designed to boost the energy for daily living and moisturize to support a healthy, active lifestyle.

“Satisfy your hunger and stay energized with the power of protein,” they said. “Herbalife shakes increase your protein intake for a nutritious snack or meal replacement.”

Ripley and Ladd decided, at the behest of long-time friend Anna Curtis, the owner of 201 Nutrition in Skowhegan and Elm City Nutrition in Waterville, to open a shop selling shakes and teas for nutrition.

“Anna encouraged us to open Affinity Nutrition on the Midcoast as we know it will be a huge success,” said Ripley and Ladd.

The menu features more than 30 sugar-free energy tea flavors such as Affinity Sunrise (peach, raspberry, orange, mango flavor) and more than 45 protein shake flavors such as vanilla caramel latte. A trio of protein bars (brownie batter, chocolate chip cookie dough, and cookies and cream) and iced coffee (caramel, vanilla, hazelnut) are also on the menu.

“Whether for work, leisure or personal fitness, Rockland residents and visitors are active people,” said Ripley and Ladd. “Affinity Nutrition products nourish your body so you can achieve optimal health.”

Business hours are from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 8 a.m. on weekdays. Saturdays until 4 p.m. and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Ripley and Ladd would like to thank AR Carpentry, Reeds Plumbing & Heating, Curtis, Jesse LeBlanc of 201 Nutrition and 207 Nutrition, and Cindy and Brady Whetzel of Foreside Nutrition for the support and assistance.
